I live in Los Angeles. And according to the current administration, every “immigrant” who recently came and worked on my house must have been a criminal.
They must have been here illegally. They must be sent back home.
Those “immigrants” who’ve been arrested by I.C.E. over the past few days worked in restaurants, in garment factories, as day laborers.
I guess I just don’t know what a criminal looks like anymore.
The President says on social media that California is out of control. That hundreds of people protesting are creating chaos.
I guess I don’t know what chaos looks like anymore, because I’m not seeing it, and I live here.
The President said on social media that the National Guard was needed because the hundreds of law enforcement personnel deployed by the city and county weren’t enough.
Even though there seemed to be as many police and sheriff deputies out there as there were protesters. Funny how math differs from East Coast to West Coast.
The President said on social media that he needed to send armed Marines to Los Angeles because the 1700 National Guardsmen and the hundreds of law enforcement personnel just weren’t enough.
You know, maybe there’s another reason the President says and does these things. Maybe his reality is not the same reality that 4,000,000 Angelenos see. Maybe his reality is better, clearer, more precise than our reality.
And maybe, and I’m not really experienced in these matters, not like the President is, maybe he has another agenda for sending in armed troops. Maybe Californians are just not cooperating, and that needs to change.
Maybe we’re a test to see what works and doesn’t work in controlling cities and states.
As I said, I’m not really experienced in these matters, but maybe we should all be concerned.
It's all so surreal to watch.
